Luck of the draw for Omagh
Australia’s Japan cup contender Fields Of Omagh has drawn ideally in barrier 4 in the 18-horse field for Sunday’s $6.8 million race at Fuchu racecourse in Tokyo.
Jockey Steven King said the great draw meant he would not have to bustle the horse to take up a good position and he hoped to be able to simply track the leaders and conserve energy to make a final dash at the appropriate time in the 600m run home in the straight.
He is drawn alongside local hope and short priced favorite Symboli Kris. Second favorite Johar is in gate 13 but connections are unconcerned about that barrier because the horse does not take up an early forward position. Fields Of Omagh worked over a leisurely 1600m today.
